Review of Shopping for an Heir: The Inheritance by Julia Kent

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

In this book we meet Gerald Wright and Suzanne Dayton. Both Suzanne and Gerald were in the military together and then unexpectedly 10 years ago he sent her a message breaking off their engagement. Suzanne never got an explanation as to why he did this and because of that she blames herself. She has tried to move on over the years but there is a part of her that belongs only to Gerald and she doesn’t know how to change that. So when she is sent to deliver some inheritance paperwork she wishes she could find someone else to do it. Seeing her ex-fiancé after all these years is almost more than she thinks she can bear. Can she put aside what she thinks she knows to listen to what really happened during that time? Or will the pain that he put her through block her from having her one true love?

Gerald thought he was doing the right thing when he broke up with Suzanne all those years ago. Now seeing her again makes him question that decision. His feelings for her are just as strong as they were when they were together maybe even more possessive. What he doesn’t know is how she feels about him and if there is even a chance for them. There are outside forces that are at work during this time that want the item that Gerald has inherited. Can he win back the woman he was always meant to be with as well as keep the item safe or will he lose everything this time for good?

This is an amazing story about two people who though they love each other fiercely they are both hurt by the past. This story also touches on the effects of PTSD and not only what those effects are on a person but those around them as well. There are many twist and turns in this book that I so want to talk about but don’t want to ruin it for anyone else. I will say I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone.
